We've been reading the historical novel, Blood on the River, which is the story of the Jamestown Colony and their interactions with the Powhatan Empire. Learning about Captain John Smith and the rest of the English colonists has really shown us how important their relationships with the Native Americans were.
We also have been creating some different holiday art pieces. So far we've made Santa Stamps and Nutcrackers. The holidays are a great time to get creative. Check out our Twitter page to see some of the art pieces.
The biggest thing we've been working on is our Feature Articles. Each student picked a topic that they wanted to become an expert on. They've researched, and are now writing their articles to teach us all about their topics. These articles are due on Thursday, December 22nd, right before we leave for break.
