Makeup Photo Day

It's time to capture the memories— Makeup Photo Day is Coming.
On Thursday, October 25, Mohr Elementary students can get their school photos taken. Any new or absent students will need to get their portraits taken. Also, if parents want a retake of their students portraits, please send the original photos with your child. Please click on the this link to order your child’s/children’s 2018-2019 photos. Week 3 Newsletter

Week 3 was fun!

Students went to their first Band and Strings session to learn more about the program and their instruments. We also went to library for the very first time! And on Friday we had our very first Pay Day. It went really well, and the bankers got a little taste of what the year will look like for them.

Students should have brought home their first Friday Folder and Progress Report. Students are setting goals in the hopes of attaining them in a week's time. Please have a conversation with your student about their goals. Inside the Friday Folder was also the Outdoor Ed packet with all the permission slips. Please work on completing those forms. They are due in a few weeks. I know it is a lot of information, but it is a truly once in a lifetime experience for your 5th grader.

This upcoming week will be busy...

On Tuesday, September 4th we will have our first Auction. Students can sell or buy items during this time... the only requirement is that all items sold during the auction must be homemade. If a food item is brought in for sale, it needs to have an ingredient list with it for our students who need to avoid certain foods.

Also, the ice cream social is Tuesday evening starting at 6. If you're available and haven't already signed up to help, please do! The signup sheet is here... Ice Cream Social Signups I will be there, at the syrup station, so I hope you stop by!

Wednesday will be our first math test. The mid module 1 test covers the first 8 lessons of module 1, and the students received the study guide on Friday.

SAFETY VALETS
Thank you to all our students who signed up to be a safety valet for the rest of the school year! Our class is the reporting this week (Sept 4-Sept 7) so help make sure they are at school early, or picked up late.  You can find our class schedule HERE.

BOXTOPS

Our school is collecting Boxtops! If you clip them off any package and send them in to school with your child, I will make sure they are turned in. Just put them in a ziploc bag with your child's name and our class!

SPIRIT FRIDAYS

Every Friday, Mohr is celebrating our school spirit by wearing Mohr Spirit Wear or our school colors of maroon, white, and black. It's a fun way to show our school pride! 

Week 3 Newsletter

This week was Kindness Week at Mohr! We shared messages of kindness, helped send food to the hungry in Haiti and those devastated by Hurricane Harvey at our Kids Against Hunger packing event, and ended the week with Hippie Spirit Day. It was a wonderful week to be a Mohr Eagle.

Thursday was also our very first Pay Day for our Class Economy. Students were able to learn how to deposit their paychecks, receive their bonuses, or even pay fines! The class had a lot of fun and I can tell they are all really enjoying the program. Our Pay Days will be the last day of each month. Next month, students will begin paying rent on their desks... they better start saving!

Friday was Auction Day! Students were invited to buy or sell items that they handmade. It was amazing to see what everyone brought in, and what people wanted to buy. The cupcakes and origami pieces were hot items! Our Auctions will be held on the first of every month.

We also started our Friday Folder/Progress Reports today. Students will be bringing home their black Friday Folder, all their work from the last few weeks, and a green Progress Report. The schoolwork is yours to keep. Students need to bring their black folder and a signed Progress Report back to school on Tuesday. This will happen every week.

I sent an email home regarding Coding Club this year. If your child is interested in joining, please follow the directions in the email.


Mohr's SciFy Club is open to 4th and 5th Graders! Go to goo.gl/Gq6mPu to sign up.

The regular Safety Valet schedule begins on Tuesday. Our class is the first class to go and they will begin Tuesday morning. Please be on time for your shift!

Week 2 Newsletter

The Solar Eclipse made for a great start to our week! Every student had glasses to be able to view the eclipse, and the whole school came out. I posted a few pictures to our Twitter, which you can see on the right.

 Next week is Kindness Week! We will be talking about all the ways to shown kindness. Back again is the Kids Against Hunger food packing event which will be on Thursday, Aug 31st. This was a huge success last year and we are excited to have it back! Students are asked to donate $5 to help feed hungry children all over the world.

Parent volunteers are still needed, so I hope you can join us. The signup is HERE. We will be packing first thing in the morning so don't be late to school!





On Friday, September 1st we are having our Kindness Spirit Day! Students should dress up in their best 60's attire for Peace, Love, and Happiness!

 Eagle TV invitations went out today. We had almost 60 people apply to join this club! A training will be held next Tuesday during the school day, and signed permission slips are needed. Congratulations to everyone who will be joining our news crew this year.

Weekly News: Week 9

We had our first field trip to the Blackhawk Museum this week! Students loved exploring the Native American and Settler perspectives of the Old West through dioramas, artifacts, and our wonderful Gallery Guides.

Thank you to all our parents who took time out of their days to drive and help chaperone at the museum. It was a great day for everyone!

I've added the few pictures I took while at the museum. Parents, if you have photos to share, please click HERE and become a part of our picture website. It will allow you to add pictures directly and then we can all have access. This will be very helpful for all our field trips this year, particularly Outdoor Ed.  I've been adding pictures of things that are happening in the classroom as well.

Weekly News: Week 3

I can't believe it's already September! These three weeks have really flown by. Students have started seeing Ms. Britto for science, and all our subject areas are up and running.  On Wednesday we had our first "Pay Day"... learning how to deposit our paychecks, earn bonuses, and pay fines!

Don't forget, Monday is Labor Day... I hope you all have a fun and relaxing three day weekend!

A few things to remember for next week:

• Tuesday-- Safety Valets!
• The new schedule is out and our class is scheduled for this week. Students received their new schedule today and should be at school on time for their shift. A few students are thinking about joining in, as well, to help make sure our MWF mornings are covered. Thank you to all of you who volunteered!
• Tuesday-- Kindness Ambassador applications due
• Ms. Britto had an informational meeting this past Wednesday. All interested students should have their forms with them on Tuesday so they may be considered. 
• Wednesday-- Mid Module 1 Math test. 
• Students received the study guide today, as well as a sheet with sample problems to work from. We will be reviewing for the test on Tuesday. All our math tests this year will be taken on the computer, to better prepare them for the state testing in May. Students should study this weekend for the test, which covers lessons 1-8. Don't forget there are videos for each of the lessons, found HERE. And I've also linked up our Study Guide, so you can see the types of questions your students should study, HERE. We will go over all the correct answers on Tuesday.
• Thursday-- Picture Day!

Weekly News: A successful week 2!

I can't believe we're done with week 2 already! Homework began this week and we're getting used to the routine of writing down homework and completing everything.

A few reminders for this upcoming week:

• Safety Valet forms for any interested people are due on Tuesday, August 30th... If you need a form it can be found HERE
• Picture Day forms went home last Wednesday. Picture Day is on Thursday, September 8th. I am happy to hold on to everyone's forms until then. Just have your student bring it to school.

Eagle TV participants only: 

Your permission slip is due on Monday. Mrs. Carrolan and I are hosting a training during the school day on Monday, and we need your permission slip in order for you to participate. Email me if you have questions.

Students also have PE tomorrow, so make sure they have tennis shoes.
