Outdoor Ed- field trip forms

Today your student brought home two packets of information for our upcoming Outdoor Ed field trip.

The white packet contains a letter from the director of Pigeon Point, a packing list, a shirt/sweatshirt order form, as well as our class's projected itinerary during our stay. If you are interested in ordering a shirt, please make sure you have your student return the form with an attached check made payable to Exploring New Horizons or ENH.

The pink packet contains the two field trip forms required for our 3 day trip. We will be at Pigeon Point from Monday, February 6th through Wednesday, February 8th. Your student should return this permission slip with a $320 cashier's check or money order made payable to PUSD.  We would like these forms and checks in as soon as possible.

Pigeon Point also has an online medical form that must be filled out in order for your child to attend. Please go to this link HERE and fill out a form for your student.

Chaperones will be notified this week so they may begin to get their fingerprints done. I will let everyone know by Friday.

If you have any questions regarding Outdoor Ed, please email me.

Weekly News: Week 14

It was so great seeing all of you for conferences! It was a busy week, filled with minimum days, but it was nice to be able to sit and chat with all of you about the first trimester and your student's progress. We are already a third of the way through the school year!

We started Module 3 for math and are learning all about adding and subtracting fractions. It is a much smaller module than the last, so we will be taking our first test on December 2nd.

Next week is Thanksgiving Break! Enjoy the week off! We will return to school on Monday, November 28th.

When we return we will be starting our informational reading and writing units. Students will get a chance to research a topic they are interested in and become an expert! Informational writing is a great way to show what you know.

Weekly News: Week 13

We had a short, four day week this week. With Friday being Veteran's Day, all the 5th graders got to hear from Major Miller about the importance of the day, and why we celebrate our veterans. We also read the book "The Wall" by Eve Bunting and talked about the veterans among our families and friends.

We also finished up Module 2 this week! Students took the Module 2 test on Thursday to show how much they've learned about division. It was a long module and the students worked really hard!

This week students should finish up their Poetry Anthology project so they can present their poetry to the class on Thursday. This is not a speech, but rather a chance to share their work with the class. It is an informal presentation.
