Science Fair

Dear Families,

We are excited to share with you information regarding this year's Mohr Science Fair!  The Science Fair is on March 15th and we are looking forward to this annual event here at Mohr.  Next Wednesday, February 7th, we will be selling the Science Fair board that students use to display their experiments.  We have always done this as a courtesy and convenience for our future scientists.  The boards are sold at cost and at a lower price than buying them at the store.  Each board sells for $3.50.  We will sell the boards until they are gone. Next Wednesday your child can purchase a board after school in the library. We will be selling them afterschool at 2:50 in the library.  Cash is accepted or checks can be made out to PTA.

We are looking forward to another successful Science Fair.  If you have any questions you can email Mrs. Stanford (lstanford@pleasantonusd.net) .
Thank you!

Week 21 Newsletter

We were very busy this week!

On Monday we finished reading Blood on the River by Elisa Carbone, which is always my favorite book to read. It fits in perfectly with what we are talking about in Social Studies, learning about the original 13 Colonies. The founding of James Town in Virginia is full of dramatic events. I think it was a big hit for everyone in our class.

We also had our very first literature test, seeing how well students remembered the story, and important key details. This test will be sent home in next week's Friday Folder.

On Thursday we had our Mid Module 4 test. I was impressed with how well everyone has been understanding multiplying whole numbers by fractions. The test results will also be sent home in next week's Friday Folder.

Check out the PHOTOS tab above... I've added pictures from the Blackhawk Museum field trip and our holiday party!

THANK YOU!

Thank you all so much for the incredible gifts and treats this past December. I am so  grateful to each and every one of you who took the time to pick something out for me. It is a complete joy to have your student in my classroom and I truly appreciate all the support you've shown me these last few months.

It's hard to believe that we are already half way through the school year! 2018 has come so quickly, and we have so many fun things ahead of us as your students wrap up their elementary school career.

Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart. I feel very blessed to have such wonderful families in my room this year.

💚, Ms. Wilcox

Week 19 Newsletter

I hope everyone had a wonderful two week winter break! It was so nice to relax, spend time with family, and sleep in!

2018 is upon us and we started off the week by talking about our New Years Resolutions. Students thought about what goals they have for the new year, what they hope to achieve, and we created a cute art project with it. They are brightening up our classroom!

This week is the last week of Feature Articles. We've been working for 4 weeks! Everyone has been working hard to create their magazine articles about their topic and I'm so excited at all the progress I'm seeing! Everyone is taking a lot of care in their research and picking out the perfect pictures to go along with their information. A printed copy of their article is due on Tuesday, January 16th.

Next week we will be starting our DARE program. DARE is taught weekly by a Pleasanton Police Officer. This year we have Officer Batt joining us. This is always a highlight of our 5th grade year and the kids were very excited to start. Please return the permission slips by Tuesday, January 16th, which is our first day of DARE!

    • No School, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
